Training Classes

Dr. Jayashree teaches Sanskrit through the traditional method of Sruti Parampara. Sruti Parampara is a call-and-response method which has been the foundation of text memorization and preservation for thousands of years.

The student learns through call-and-response chanting – following and responding to the voice of the teacher. In this way, texts, chants and grammar forms are easily committed to memory over time.

Sruti Parampara renders carrying of text materials in hand redundant. In addition, this method results in extensive voice training, which will enhance the student’s capability to accurately pronounce any phoneme (or “sound”) of any language.

Sruti means listening. Parampara refers to the relationship between teacher and student, signifying the way knowledge is imparted and handed down over generations through a lineage of teachers and their students.

This is a time-honoured practice in India, which has been kept alive for the last seven thousand years. As a result, Sanskrit is the only ancient language where we are sure of the correlation between the script and the pronunciation.

Each class includes chanting of stotram, subhasitam, and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Through study and repetition, various aspects of Sanskrit and Yoga come to light.

Class begins on the 1st of each month and is generally offered 4 times per week. Each class is 1 1/2 hours. These classes are for all levels.
The fee for each one-month course is Rs. 1000 to be paid at the start of each month. Please present the completed registration form (hyperlink to form) with an attached photo at this time.

For a noticeable benefit students should be prepared to make a minimum commitment of one month and attend every class. Please dress respectfully.
